LONG TERM

Each year, OM teams receive five new competitive problems to solve. Some of the problems are more technical in nature, while others are artistic or performance-based. Each team works together for several months to reach a solution. In this way, Odyssey of the Mind teaches students how to think creatively by providing open-ended problems that appeal to a wide range of interests.

For the long-term problem, competing teams are scored in two areas: the solution itself and the "style" or enhancement of the solution. Focusing on the style aspect of the presentation gives students an opportunity to showcase their creativity.
